Leland Kimball

 

Biography

Leland Kimball serves as the General Director for OperaDelaware. Having directed over sixty productions, Mr. Kimball's The Jungle Book was described by Opera News as "Brilliant." He has directed La Traviata, Help! Help! the Globolinks, and the world premiers of A Wrinkle in Time, The Phantom Tollbooth, and The Enormous Egg. This past fall he directed La Bohème. An accomplished designer, he holds a Master in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania, and he has received critical acclaim for his innovative set designs for La Bohème. The Face on the Barroom Floor, La Cenerentola, and the world premier of Billy and Zelda. As a tenor, Mr. Kimball has performed leading roles in Stiffelio, Don Giovanni, the world premier of Joshua, and the American premier of Lully's Alceste. As a teacher, Mr. Kimball has taught acting for singers at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and currently teaches "Introduction to the Performing Arts" at Wilmington College. During his successful tenure as General Director at OperaDelaware, the company's annual budget has grown from $700,000 to $1.5 million.
