Michael Cordovana

Biography
Michael Cordovana (B. M., M. M., Ph. D., The Catholic University of America; additional study at The Peabody Conservatory, the Aspen School of Music, and in Germany, Austria, and Italy), professor and chair of the voice division. Largely responsible for the excellence of the university's many opera productions. Former assistant dean of the Benjamin T. Rome School of Music. Internationally recognized coach and accompanist with extensive performing experience in the United States. Has been assistant conductor for The Washington Opera, The Summer Opera Theatre Company, and the Providence Opera Theatre. From 1974 until his retirement in 1997, was head of the music staff of the Dallas Opera Company where, in 1989, he was responsible for the musical preparation of the world premiere of Dominick Argento's The Aspern Papers, shown on "Great Performances." Teaches during the summer on the faculties of the Shaker Mountain Music Festival and the Amalfi Coast Music Festival.
