Peter Campbell

Peter Campbell’s luxuriant bass voice has been winning praise for his appearances throughout the country. “[His] Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoor) was a fully realized character sung with a magnificent bass-baritone voice that clearly threatens to become a gorgeous bass voice in the not-too-distant future” (J. Peter Bergman, The Independent). Moving easily from the drama of Donizetti to the comedy of Rossini, Mr. Campbell’s Don Basilio has been called “zany” and “a joy to watch … bringing acting and singing to a role that is too often merely a caricature of a man.” (Bergman, The Independent). He has appeared in operas and concerts throughout this country and abroad, singing roles as varied as Colline (La Bohème), Don Giovanni (Don Giovanni), and Méphistophélès (Faust) to Gianni Schicchi (Gianni Schicchi), Bartolo (Le nozze di Figaro), and Don Pasquale (Don Pasquale). He was apprenticed with The Sarasota Opera and Des Moines Metro Opera, where he sang the role of the Cappadocier in Strauss’s Salome and Charles Edward in Bernstein’s Candide.
