Korean War Memorial Concert Click here to view event flyer On Sunday, August 14, 2005, a variety of chamber musicians performed, “Songs of the Forgotten War,” a new work by nineteen local DC-area composers, as part of the Korean War Memorial Concert at the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage. The Catholic University of America's Benjamin T. Rome School of Music commissioned “Songs of the Forgotten War” as a collaborative work. This project commissioned nineteen composers, among whom were Catholic University of America Composition students, to compose a one-minute chamber work based on one of the nineteen bronze statues of soldiers at the Korean War Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC. Also performed was the world premiere of Reflections on Marguerite Higgins' “War in Korea,” commissioned by the Korean Cultural Service. Video of this performance is available on the Kennedy Center's website. To view this video click here. A news review of "Songs of the Forgotten War," by Catholic University can be found here.
